Atlantic Health System's efforts to reduce our carbon footprint have placed us in the country's top 10 healthcare systems regarding environmental stewardship. We are proud to be in a leadership role that other health systems can emulate in their sustainability initiatives. In preparation for Earth Day 2023, we are presenting this session featuring Dan Quinlan from Clinicians for Climate Action New Jersey to highlight the efforts health systems can make regarding climate change solutions in our day-to-day patient care settings. The session will also highlight ways clinicians can get involved locally, regionally, and nationally in their practice settings.
Objectives: After participation, the learner should be able to:
1. Describe how health systems can implement migration strategies to reduce their carbon footprint.
2. Recognize ways clinicians can get involved locally and, in their practices, to implement strategies to reduce waste products, including recycling paper, plastic, and other waste-generating procedures.
3. Interpret how they can participate in their community and schools as a resource for education and advocacy.
4. Identify how they can get involved in state and national efforts to advocate for patients and reduce the harm caused by climate change.
