Description: What is the Problem?
High-level evidence demonstrates the benefits of cancer screening, but screening is underused, particularly among racial/ethnic minorities and the medically underserved.

Why Does the Problem Exist?
Multilevel barriers include inadequate health insurance, primary care and screening access, and patient/provider misconceptions about screening and cancer inequity.
Objectives: After participation, the learner should be able to:
1. Recognize that cancer screening rates are suboptimal and inequitable.
2. Identify starting and stopping ages and frequency of recommended screening for breast and colorectal cancer.
3. Identify the advantages of early cancer detection.
4. Recognize how to address barriers to colorectal cancer screening.
5. Identify the level of evidence for breast and colorectal cancer screening.
