Description: Completion of this CME activity fulfills the state mandated Awareness Training for Controlled Substances. It fulfills all areas as required in the rule of Public Act 247 of 2017.
Educational Objectives: At the end of this activity, participant should be able to:
  1. Understand the risk and benefit associated with prescribing and administration of opioids and other controlled substances.
  2. Understand how to compliment use of controlled substances with integrated treatments.
  3. Demonstrate awareness of alternative treatments for pain management.
  4. Counsel patients on teh effects and risks associated with controlled substances.
  5. Explain the stigma of addiction (substance use disorder).
  6. Utilize the Michigan Automated Prescription System.
