Objectives:
1. Examine opioid and other illicit substance use trends to identify those areas of Mississippi with highest need for opioid and substance use disorder (SUD) through utilizing SBIRT and/or the DSM-5 criteria for SUD.
2. Identifying patients with risky use patterns or with a substance use disorder (SUD) through utilizing SBIRT and/or the DSM-5 criteria for SUD.
3. Define stigma and the effects it has on identification and treatment of risky substance use and SUD.
4. Utilize federal and state resources available to guide appropriate opioid prescribing, treatment of pain, and adequate patient prescriber education to increase awareness of opioid risks and help prevent overdose and death.
