Interprofessional Education- What you need in your Credit Request

Here are components to include in your future credit requests:

  1. Identify a planner or teacher from at least one other profession, i.e., a nurse, dentist, pharmacist, physician assistant, physician, optometrist, psychologist, social worker, addiction counselor, dietician, or athletic trainer, among many others.

  1. Include interprofessional practice gaps for the credit request (e.g., emergency physicians and ED pharmacists can improve outcomes with improved communication) and learning objectives (e.g., participants will improve communication as part of the ICU healthcare team) related to the improvement of teamwork or team communication.

  1. Design learning opportunities in your activities to facilitate health professionals learning from one another during the course (e.g., a multiprofessional panel or group discusses a case).

  1. Include program content that addresses teamwork (e,g, interactive discussions of care coordination, or communication, or handoffs).

  1. Provide value for all health professions in your target audience.

Our UCSF CME team (planners, accreditation team, faculty) can help you to ensure you have reflected the highest standards and needed elements in the credit request for your event.
