Zoom tips for Presenters

Test Your Settings

It is recommended that you test your computer prior to attending a meeting.  You can do this by going to zoom.us/test

The test meeting will launch.  If this is your first time using Zoom, you will be prompted to download the Zoom Client.
Note: If you would like to install this before launching the test meeting, you can do so here:

Video - Looking your best

  • Make sure you are in a well-lit area

  • Put your camera at face level (use a stand, or stack of books if you are using a laptop camera), relatively close to you

  • Find a background that's simple (less distraction the better).
We don't recommend using the zoom virtual background

Audio Prep

As long as you have a decent internet connection, you will get the best quality audio experience by selecting ‘use my computer for audio when starting zoom:

  • Make sure you are in a quiet area

  • Use a pair of earbuds (any that work with your computer) along with your computer microphone. If you can’t be in a quiet area,  consider a headset with a microphone

  • Reserve using the dial-in number for times when you don’t have easy access to a computer or you have low-quality Internet access

Never use multiple audio sources in close proximity to each other
Echo is usually caused by two people sitting in the same room or near each other who separately join the same meeting with audio. It can also occur if one person joins twice with audio, such as by phone and PC. If you’re joining with multiple people in the same room, call in from the conference room phone or have only one person connect to audio. The remaining participants in the room should just close the audio prompt without joining.
